There are currently six main types of leather for LV bags, including crocodile skin, sheepskin, cowhide, kangaroo skin, patent leather, and canvas. Generally speaking, it can be divided into two types: leather and canvas or canvas coating.
For example: the bags of the Monogram series are not leather but canvas. This canvas material is a kind of cotton material plus resin processing. The biggest feature is that it is light, soft and durable, and it is also waterproof and not afraid of being scratched. This is also one of the reasons why many people choose it as an entry-level model. The Epi series of bags is LV’s earliest leather series bags. Epi means “ears of wheat”, so the outer skin texture of this bag looks like wheat ears. The EPI series bag is made of pure cowhide, but it adopts a different approach from the classic one. It extracts the mixture of plant tannin and chromium from the plant, and then carries out deep dyeing from the leather body.
LV has already carefully selected the leather, not to mention the production process. As we all know, the core fabric of LV is canvas plus PVC, and the process is very complicated. At present, there is no brand in the world that can match the strict process of LV. This is also an important reason for LV’s long-term prosperity.
