Bogotá recently played host to the fourth edition of Universo Mola Fashion Week, solidifying its position as Latin America’s premier sustainable fashion event, with growing global acclaim. Held at EAN University and co-organized by the Laverde Foundation, the five-day event brought together a diverse group of designers, brands, institutions, and the public to explore and implement sustainable solutions within the regional fashion industry.
This year’s Universo Mola Fashion Week 2025 showcased 28 brands from across Latin America, including Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, and Guatemala. The event attracted over 2,500 in-person attendees and garnered an additional 148,000 online viewers.
The comprehensive program featured a variety of activities, such as runway shows, forums, workshops, exhibitions, and a business opportunity roundtable that facilitated 123 one-on-one meetings between 32 participants and 16 companies. This initiative aimed to foster sustainable business collaborations and encourage commercial growth.
The academic agenda, which focused on regeneration, circularity, and sustainable business models, saw 39 speakers from across the globe contributing their expertise. A key highlight was the creation of the Latin American Sustainable Fashion Academic Network, formally launched during a meeting with universities and institutions from Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, and Italy. The network aims to enhance academic collaboration and prepare the next generation of fashion professionals with a sustainability-focused curriculum.
Additionally, both emerging and established brands received valuable support through scholarships, mentorship programs, and international exposure, including opportunities at Guatemala Fashion Week 2026 and product showcases in Europe through the Istituto Europeo di Design.
The event concluded with the Mola Red Carpet and a runway show themed “Nostalgia for the Future.” In a strategic move to ensure long-term growth, organizers announced a two-year hiatus for Universo Mola Fashion Week, during which time the initiative will restructure its action plan, strengthen partnerships, and extend its impact across Latin America.
According to event organizers, this pause will enable Universo Mola to continue its mission of transforming the fashion industry by developing innovative, sustainable, and regenerative projects.
