Pantone’s color of the year, Mocha Mousse, a warm shade between coffee and chocolate, is making waves across industries—including luxury watchmaking. In 2025, ceramic has emerged as a dominant material, with brands from Rado and Hublot to Piaget, Bremont, and IWC incorporating it into their designs.
Louis Vuitton is embracing both trends with a striking new Tambour watch, blending chocolate-brown ceramic and rose gold.
Mastering Ceramic: Precision and Elegance
Crafting ceramic watches presents unique challenges, especially achieving consistent color tones. The brown ceramic used in this Tambour model is meticulously developed to mirror the rich hues of Louis Vuitton’s iconic travel trunks.
Its stepped dial showcases varying brown shades, complemented by white and 18ct rose gold accents. The golden hands, filled with white lume, ensure legibility while enhancing the watch’s aesthetic appeal.
True to the Tambour legacy, this model features a mix of brushed and polished finishes, extending across the case, lugs, and bracelet. The bracelet itself is an engineering marvel, designed without exposed pins, as its ceramic links seamlessly integrate into a rose gold articulated backbone.
A Fusion of Craftsmanship and Innovation
At its core, the watch runs on Louis Vuitton’s LFT023 automatic movement, chronometer-certified for precision. A 22ct gold micro-rotor efficiently generates power, enabling a 50-hour reserve. The use of a micro-rotor allows the case to remain sleek at 40mm x 8.3mm, ensuring a comfortable and stylish fit.
Elevating the Tambour with Ultra-Luxury Editions
Beyond the new ceramic model, Louis Vuitton is pushing boundaries with exclusive high-jewelry editions. The collection now includes:
Platinum or yellow gold cases, set with either rainbow-hued sapphires and rubies or saffron-colored sapphires encircling an onyx dial.
The yellow gold with onyx and amber sapphires is limited to just 30 pieces.
The rainbow edition, featuring a vibrant gemstone spectrum, is restricted to only 50 pieces worldwide.
Each maintains the 40mm x 8.3mm case architecture and houses the automatic LFT023.01 movement, staying true to the Tambour’s signature design since its 2023 relaunch.
With this latest expansion, Louis Vuitton solidifies its presence in haute horlogerie, blending technical mastery with unmistakable luxury.
