L’Oréal has divested two of its cosmetics brands, Decléor and Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc, to newly established French company Cospal. The financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed.
Cospal, headed by Matthieu Lesieur, plans to revitalize the heritage brands while expanding its presence in the beauty and wellness sectors. Decléor, a pioneering aromatherapy brand founded in the 1970s, and Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc, a dermocosmetics line rooted in its namesake spa in the French Alps, are both set to embark on a new phase of growth under the Cospal banner.
Lesieur’s connection to Decléor runs deep—his father acquired the brand in the 1980s before selling it to Japanese beauty giant Shiseido. L’Oréal subsequently purchased Decléor in 2014 as part of a €230 million deal.
The move reflects L’Oréal’s ongoing strategy to refine its portfolio by shedding non-core brands and doubling down on its core dermocosmetics focus.
