SWISS has confirmed an expanded order for five additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft, supplementing its original commitment for five of the wide-body jets. This new order is part of a larger fleet enhancement by its parent company, the Lufthansa Group.
The first of the new A350-900s is scheduled to enter service with SWISS in summer 2025, with further deliveries expected to continue through to the end of 2031. These aircraft will replace the airline’s current fleet of four Airbus A340-300s.
The new A350s will feature SWISS’s recently unveiled SWISS Senses cabin interiors, including an expanded premium economy section designed to offer passengers greater comfort on long-haul flights.
CEO Jens Fehlinger commented on the announcement, highlighting the significance of the fleet upgrade: “Our new Airbus A350s will make our fleet even more modern. This is a major investment, and a vital one to ensure that we continue to meet our customers’ high expectations.”
He added that the introduction of these advanced twinjets would elevate the airline’s long-haul operations, enhancing both sustainability and in-flight comfort for passengers. The airline has yet to announce the specific routes that will be served by the A350s, with final decisions expected in the coming months.
