BMW and Kith have unveiled their latest collaboration: a one-of-a-kind M1 E26, the first M car ever produced, reimagined with a stunning Techno Violet finish. The custom-designed coupé, a product of Kith founder Ronnie Fieg’s vision, will be on display at Art Basel Miami Beach later this week.
The original M1, with its striking wedge-shaped design by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign, remains one of the most iconic vehicles to ever bear BMW’s roundel. Fieg stayed true to the car’s distinctive look, opting to enhance its natural elegance rather than drastically altering it. The M1 now sports a vibrant Techno Violet color, a beloved shade among BMW enthusiasts, along with a custom Kith M-Series badge on the rear deck lid. The interior features luxurious BMW Individual Black Merino Leather, complemented by Kith’s signature monogram pattern on the seat inserts, headrests, gear shifter, door cards, and floor mats.
While the exterior and interior received thoughtful updates, the car’s powertrain remains mostly unchanged, rebuilt with components from BMW’s archives. The M1’s 3.5-liter inline-six engine, producing 277 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque, still offers impressive performance. With a top speed of 165 mph and the ability to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under six seconds, the M1 was a formidable machine in its time.
This unique Techno Violet BMW X Kith M1 E26 is a one-off creation, likely destined for Fieg’s personal collection. However, fans of the collaboration will have the opportunity to see the car in person at the Kith for BMW Showcase event on December 6. The event will also feature other custom BMW models from Fieg’s collection.
