Melbourne-based startup Departed Spirits is making waves in Australia’s craft spirits scene with a new premium range that blends innovation, practicality, and design. The company’s signature offering comes in sleek, stainless steel tins, which combine functionality with eye-catching aesthetics, making them perfect for on-the-go consumption.
Founded by Kas Salar, Departed Spirits is backed by industry veterans including Dave Temminghoff (ex-StrangeLove), James Bruce (StrangeLove), and Dan Walker (ex-Proof & Company, True Believers). The team set out with a clear mission: to combine Salar’s two passions – fine liquor and outdoor adventure.
Salar explains, “As we developed the range, we realized the packaging format suited a different style of drinking. It had to be fun and adventurous because the tins themselves are lightweight, durable, and virtually unbreakable.”
The inaugural collection features three distinct spirits: Yuzu Gin, a blend of Australian gin and Japanese yuzu juice; Green Apple Vodka, a premium triple-distilled vodka made on a five-column still; and Pineapple Jalapeño Agave, crafted from agave grown in Jalisco and infused with pineapple and jalapeño extracts.
Temminghoff adds, “The Australian craft spirits market has been growing rapidly, and we’re excited to push the boundaries. Our approach is all about accessibility and fun. Who wouldn’t want to try Pineapple Jalapeño Agave?”
Each spirit is designed to be enjoyed on its own or mixed with sparkling water, with simplicity and enjoyment at the core of the brand. The range is crafted with an alcohol content of 34-37% ABV for a smooth, sessionable experience, and infused with high-quality distillates for a premium taste. The products come in 500ml stainless steel tins, designed for easy transport and outdoor enjoyment.
Departed Spirits is aiming to redefine the craft spirits experience, offering a fresh, approachable option for both seasoned drinkers and newcomers alike.
