Three Cut Gin (TCG), a premium Tasmanian spirit, has successfully launched in the United States, gaining traction in states like New York, Texas, Nevada, and California—the home state of founder Justin Turner.
Turner, originally from California, grew up on his family’s vineyard before transitioning to a career in finance in New York. His journey into spirits began after meeting his Tasmanian partner, inspiring him to craft a gin that embodies the essence of Tasmania.
“We’ve worked hard to capture the unique taste of Tasmania in a tipple. Starting from the purity of its waters, the delicate scent of roses, and fresh citrus, we’ve created an epicurean delight worthy of its name,” Turner said.
The gin is distilled at Turner Stillhouse, located in Tasmania’s Tamar Valley, which Turner established in 2018. Its name, “Three Cut Gin,” comes from the three cuts of rose used during the steeping distillation process.
TCG has earned widespread acclaim, winning awards like Best Gin in Australia at the Australian Gin Awards and multiple gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Awards. With over 40 local and international accolades, Turner credits the gin’s distinct flavor profile for its growing popularity in the U.S.
“We’re so proud to see the positive response that U.S. consumers already have to our premium range of Tasmanian gins,” said Turner. “We’re adding new customers each month and recently appointed a third-party sales team to cover the West Coast, East Coast, and Houston markets.”
Turner also acknowledged the role of an Export Development Grant from Austrade in facilitating TCG’s entry into the American market. Looking ahead, he plans to expand the brand’s portfolio to include vodka and its first whisky, which is slated for release in 2025.
