Audi has raised the bar for luxury performance SUVs with the introduction of the new RS Q8 performance, which stands as the most powerful combustion model yet from Audi Sport. With a staggering output of 631 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, the RS Q8 performance showcases the most advanced version of Audi’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, achieving a top speed of 190 mph. While these figures are impressive on paper, Audi’s chassis developer, Roland Waschkau, sought to experience the vehicle’s capabilities firsthand.
Waschkau’s journey began in Sitges, Spain, where he tested the Audi RS Q8 performance on the route between his hotel and the ParcMotor Circuit in Castellolí. The SUV features an adaptive air suspension system that adjusts to provide both comfort on the road and sporty agility on the track. The winding roads of Montserrat served as an ideal testing ground, allowing the RS Q8 to demonstrate its impressive handling and agility, which are enhanced by all-wheel steering that reduces the turning radius.
On the track at ParcMotor Circuit, the RS Q8 performance delivered the kind of track-ready performance that enthusiasts crave. Notably, it has recorded an impressive lap time of 7:36.698 at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The combination of its ceramic brakes, powerful engine, lightweight construction, excellent weight distribution, and innovative agility culminates in a thrilling driving experience, establishing the RS Q8 performance as both a high-performance sports vehicle and a luxurious SUV coupe that doesn’t compromise on style or comfort.
