British retail powerhouse John Lewis is set to invest £800 million in transforming its physical stores, beginning with redesigned beauty halls at its flagship location on Oxford Street, as well as in High Wycombe and Cheadle. This significant investment follows a notable 7% increase in beauty sales during the first half of the year.
To enhance its beauty offerings, John Lewis has added 41 new counters—marking a 24% increase—and now features 175 different brands. The revamped beauty halls will showcase sleek marble-effect counters and brighter lighting, designed to create an elevated in-store atmosphere.
This strategic investment aims to draw more foot traffic, improve the overall customer experience, and solidify John Lewis’s position in London’s competitive retail landscape.
