Spiritual preacher and singer Jaya Kishori is facing criticism after being photographed with a custom Dior “Book Tote” valued at over ₹2 lakh. The 29-year-old Hindu preacher was seen carrying the high-end bag at an airport, prompting social media users to question the authenticity of her teachings on non-materialism and detachment.
Kishori, who has garnered a substantial following through her spiritual discourses and musical performances, has frequently emphasized the importance of renouncing material possessions in favor of spiritual growth. However, her choice of such an expensive accessory has raised eyebrows and led many to challenge the sincerity of her message.
One user on X pointed out the contradiction, stating, “Spiritual preacher Jaya Kishori deleted her video where she was carrying a Dior bag worth ₹210,000 only. By the way, she preaches non-materialism and calls herself a devotee of Lord Krishna. One more thing: Dior makes bags using calf leather.”
Another commentator echoed this sentiment, remarking, “Jaya Kishori tells people not to be materialistic, yet she herself uses a luxury bag costing over ₹2 lakh. Most of these preachers are like this, using our religion to profit and live a lavish life.”
The backlash underscores a growing scrutiny of public figures who promote spiritual ideals while seemingly contradicting those principles in their personal choices.
