In celebration of 25 years of the GT3, Porsche has refreshed the 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 Touring for the current model year, introducing mechanical enhancements, design updates, and optional extras. The automaker claims that the latest 911 GT3 promises a “more exhilarating” driving experience. Here’s a closer look at what’s new.
Mechanical Enhancements for the 911 GT3
The 2023 GT3 features upgraded cylinder heads and sharper camshafts inherited from the GT3 RS, enhancing its performance. Additionally, improved oil coolers increase efficiency, while new throttle valves contribute to the overall performance of the vehicle. To meet the latest emission standards, the GT3 is now equipped with two particulate filters and four catalytic converters.
Design Differences in the GT3 Touring
The GT3 Touring model, which is designed for a more road-oriented experience, distinguishes itself visually from the standard GT3 by forgoing the rear wing. The Touring now also offers optional rear seats, necessitating the replacement of the front seats with carbon-fiber units that feature a foldable backrest to accommodate passengers. Customers can also choose power-adjustable sports seats.
Performance and Gear Options
Despite the updates, both models continue to utilize the same flat-six engine, delivering 510 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. The new 911 GT3 is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The manual version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, while the DCT-equipped model achieves the same sprint in a quicker 3.4 seconds. Porsche has also refined the final drive and dampers, along with updates to the anti-dive system, which minimizes pitch during braking.
With these updates, Porsche aims to enhance the driving experience of its iconic GT3 lineup, continuing its legacy of performance and engineering excellence.
