British motorsports and engineering company RML Group is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the unveiling of four innovative projects, one for each decade of its existence.
The first project is the P39 40SE, an upgrade package for the 992-generation Porsche 911 Turbo S. Inspired by the LMH race cars competing in both the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA SportsCar Championship, this upgrade promises to transform the 911 Turbo S into a track powerhouse, capable of outperforming the 911 GT3 RS on the racetrack, according to simulations conducted by the company.
Michael Mallock, CEO of RML and son of founder Ray Mallock, claims the P39 40SE will achieve a remarkable Nürburgring lap time of 6:45, surpassing the 911 GT3 RS by 4.3 seconds and exceeding the stock 911 Turbo S by over 30 seconds.
Key modifications for the P39 40SE include an impressive power increase from the twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-6 engine, boosting output from 640 hp to 900 hp. This enhancement is accomplished through a comprehensive overhaul of the ECU, turbochargers, intercoolers, manifolds, and exhaust system.
Additionally, RML has redesigned the body using a lighter and stiffer carbon-fiber construction, which provides a wider track both front and rear. The wheelbase has also been extended slightly to improve performance. The aerodynamic package, inspired by LMH race cars, features a drag reduction system, resulting in peak downforce of 1,460 pounds at 150 mph—over 4.5 times that of a stock 911 Turbo S.
The complete P39 40SE upgrade, including the donor 911 Turbo S, is priced at £495,000 (approximately $538,200), with only 10 units slated for production at RML’s facility in Wellingborough, U.K.
In addition to the P39 40SE, RML plans to launch three more projects to commemorate its milestone anniversary. These include a track car codenamed P40, which features Formula 1-inspired aerodynamics and high-performance battery technology, as well as an original Aston Martin V8 Vantage retrofitted with modern mechanicals and a carbon-fiber body.
These new projects represent more than just a celebration; they demonstrate RML’s commitment to innovation through its newly established divisions, designed to attract customers beyond traditional racing and OEM partnerships. These divisions focus on powertrain advancements, including electric vehicle technology, and bespoke personalization services alongside RML’s traditional motorsports and engineering offerings.
