FRANCE – A new generation of the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class is set to debut next year, and the automaker has provided an exclusive sneak peek. During the Festival d’Hyères held in France over the weekend, Mercedes showcased a lightly camouflaged prototype of the upcoming compact sedan, which will be available in both electric and hybrid variants.
Mercedes also revealed the design of the new CLA-Class with the Concept CLA-Class at the 2023 Munich auto show. Prototypes of the vehicle have been spotted testing on public roads for over a year, and the official debut is confirmed for 2025. The vehicle is expected to arrive in the U.S. as a 2026 model, with a potential late 2025 release also on the table.
Key design features from last year’s CLA-Class concept that are likely to make it into production include a Mercedes star logo pattern in the taillights and an interior featuring a wide dashboard panel that integrates screens for both the digital gauge cluster and infotainment system, complemented by circular climate control vents.
The new CLA-Class is part of Mercedes’ upcoming small car lineup, which will also introduce refreshed versions of the GLA-Class, GLB-Class, and CLA-Class Shooting Brake. Notably, the current A-Class hatchback and B-Class minivan will be phased out as part of this transition.
At the core of this new range is a modular platform known as the MMA. While primarily designed for electric powertrains, the platform is compatible with gas engines in hybrid configurations. Additionally, it will support high-performance electric powertrains for upcoming AMG variants of the compact range.
Electric vehicles built on the MMA platform are anticipated to offer a range of around 300 miles, featuring an 800-volt electrical system that allows for the addition of over 100 miles of range in less than 15 minutes when using a DC fast charger.
