Tyrrell Wines celebrated a triumphant evening at the 2024 Royal Adelaide Wine and Spirit Awards, clinching three major trophies, including the George Fairbrother Memorial Trophy for its iconic Vat 1 Semillon. The family-owned winery also received The Gramp, Hardy, Hill-Smith Prize for National Wine of Provenance for its Steven’s Semillon, while Head Winemaker Andrew Spinaze was honored with The F Miller & Co Prize for Winemaker of the National Wine of Provenance.
Meanwhile, St Agnes XO garnered the Champion Spirit Trophy, marking its success across all major capital city spirit awards this year. St Agnes has also received accolades for its XO Grand Reserve, including gold medals and several trophies at prestigious events like the Royal Sydney Distilled Spirits Awards and the Melbourne Royal Australian Distilled Spirits Awards. Richard Angove, representing the fifth generation of his family at St Agnes, praised the team’s dedication to creating exceptional spirits.
Greg Follett, Chair of the Royal Adelaide Wine Committee, noted the impressive competition among over 2,200 entries, highlighting the enduring quality of Australian winemaking. Other notable winners included Devil’s Lair, awarded the Max Schubert AM Trophy for its Cabernet Sauvignon, and Jim Barry Wines, which secured the Governor’s Trophies for Best South Australian White and Red in Show.
