Since its inception in 2014, Luftgekühlt has redefined the celebration of Porsche’s most iconic models, culminating in an unforgettable Luft10 event. Known for their fierce loyalty, Porsche enthusiasts have long gathered to share their passion for air-cooled engines, with Los Angeles standing as the heart of this community.
Luftgekühlt began with a modest gathering organized by two-time Le Mans winner Patrick Long and creative director Howie Idelson at Deus Ex Machina in Venice, California. What started as a bi-annual meet evolved into a global celebration of Porsche’s design and power, expanding to cities like Indianapolis, San Francisco, and even Europe.
For its 10th anniversary, the event returned to the backlot of Universal Studios, transforming the iconic location into a stunning showcase for PTS Porsches. Each car’s placement was carefully planned, allowing attendees to appreciate the models in detail while capturing breathtaking photographs, expertly shot by Nikos Karampotis.
Among the highlights was a striking 550 Spyder, known for its sleek design, parked beneath the cinema foyer, alongside a stunning 962-112 in Victor Computers livery—a nod to Porsche’s racing heritage that drew crowds throughout the day.
As Luftgekühlt looks to the future, the possibilities are limitless. With air-cooled Porsche enthusiasm showing no signs of waning, Creative Director Jeff Zwart is poised to explore new horizons. Over the next decade, Luftgekühlt promises to continue its quest for rare and remarkable vehicles, solidifying its status as a true Porsche phenomenon.
