Chinese organizations showcased a traditional cultural relics fashion show at Paris Fashion Week, highlighting the artistry of Chuxiong Yi embroidery. The event was organized under the auspices of the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration (CIGC), the Chinese Embassy in France, and the Information Office of Yunnan Provincial People’s Government, with co-sponsorship from several cultural and media organizations.
The fashion show attracted representatives from the Chinese Embassy in France, UNESCO, the French Ministry of Culture, the French Fashion Association, and nearly 100 attendees from the Chinese and French fashion and art communities, including enterprises and media outlets.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France, celebrated as the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism. The show is part of a series of events promoting bilateral cultural exchanges throughout this milestone year.
The event aimed to elevate Chuxiong Yi embroidery culture, merging traditional craftsmanship with modern fashion. Organizers hope to foster cultural exchanges and dialogue between the Chinese, European, and French artistic communities, contributing to the global civilization initiative.
The exhibition marked the first appearance of Chuxiong Yi embroidery at Paris Fashion Week, building on previous showcases at New York and Milan Fashion Weeks. Through this platform, Chuxiong Prefecture aimed to present the beauty of Yi embroidery to an international audience while promoting the development of its cultural industry.
