Barnes Yachting has officially confirmed the construction of the 52-metre Project Tide at Orion Yachts, a Turkish commercial shipyard. The project, developed in partnership with Horacio Bozzo Design, is set to commence this year, with delivery scheduled for 2027.
This yacht marks the first in a series aimed at serving clients from both Barnes Yachting and the broader residential portfolio of Barnes International. Plans are already in place for a second, identical hull to begin construction in Spring 2025.
Inigo Nicholson, CEO of Barnes Yachting, emphasized the need for innovation in a crowded market. “While the global fleet continues to grow, the availability of interesting, well-priced yachts is diminishing. After two years of research, we’ve determined that our offerings must stand out to attract Barnes International clients, who seek unique experiences tailored to their specific preferences,” he stated.
Project Tide boasts impressive features, including a six-stateroom layout accommodating up to 12 guests, a range of 4,000 nautical miles, and robust steel and aluminum construction. Guest accommodations include a master suite, a spacious VIP, and four convertible double staterooms, making it ideal for chartering with multiple families.
The yacht’s four-deck configuration offers numerous entertaining spaces, including two pools—one located in the beach area at the aft and another on the fore sundeck. The open-plan main deck features hydraulic fold-down terraces, while the upper deck includes a generous semi-alfresco dining area and lounge.
Regarding the partnership with Orion Yachts, Nicholson remarked, “We chose Orion as our construction partner due to their expertise in commercial shipbuilding and their transition into the superyacht sector. Unlike many builders who assemble interiors from external specialists, Orion Yachts excels in comprehensive manufacturing. We have established a production line that allows for reduced waiting times, with metal cutting expected to begin by the end of this year. Both yachts will be 52 metres and under 500 GT, aligning with market demand. Our goal is to showcase the first yacht at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2027, with the second launching ahead of the 2028 summer season.”
Project Tide will adhere to Lloyd’s Register and LY3 compliance standards, achieving a top speed of 15 knots at half load displacement.
