Models showcased the latest trends against the stunning backdrop of downtown Johnstown during the concluding event of Johnstown Fashion Week, the Rooftop Skyline Fashion Show held in the Vine Street parking garage.
Organizer Camillya Taylor, owner of Camille’s House of Styles and Boutique, expressed her inspiration for the venue choice, stating, “The view is so beautiful, and we have a great skyline, so I thought, ‘Why not utilize it?’”
The show featured 38 models and designs from nine talented designers. Andrea Fulton, a returning participant from Harrisburg, highlighted her contribution of 11 unique styles. “It’s a lot of glam,” she noted. “It’s upstyled and really creative with a lot of different looks, mostly hand-sewn.” Fulton aims to increase her visibility and network with other professionals in the industry through this event.
Emily Rouse, a designer from Wheeling, West Virginia, showcased her work at Johnstown Fashion Week for the first time, featuring eight looks from her latest collection. “Every season, I design a print and base the whole collection around it,” she explained, expressing excitement about being part of a new fashion community.
First-time model Candis Dorsey from Pittsburgh, who previously collaborated with Taylor, shared her enthusiasm for participating. “It feels amazing to do her show, and that makes it really special for me,” she said, noting her previous experiences in larger fashion weeks.
Christopher Blair, a Johnstown resident and debut model, expressed his excitement about his first runway experience. “I’m here for the experience and the fun of it all,” he said, hoping the show will lead to more modeling opportunities.
In addition to the fashion showcase, the event featured a car cruise, musical entertainment, and vendors offering food and merchandise. Taylor emphasized her vision for Johnstown as a burgeoning fashion hub, stating, “People don’t realize that we can do it… our small town covers it more than any other fashion week, and we get so much support for it.” The enthusiasm surrounding the event was palpable, marking a successful celebration of local fashion and community spirit.
