The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released the official range ratings for the 2024 Porsche Macan Electric, indicating impressive figures for both of its initial trims. The Macan 4 Electric boasts a range of 308 miles per charge, while the high-performance Macan Turbo Electric achieves 288 miles, according to Porsche spokesperson Calvin Kim.
These figures position the Macan Electric competitively in the EV market. Notably, the Turbo model’s 288-mile range is particularly striking given its robust performance capabilities, including 630 horsepower and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 3.1 seconds.
The range information surfaced on the Macan EV Owners forum, which discovered the details on Macan Electric window stickers. The forum was instrumental in first revealing these EPA ratings.
The initial deliveries of the Macan Electric are expected to commence this month, with the base model scheduled for release in late November. The base variant is anticipated to offer a longer range due to its single-motor, rear-wheel-drive configuration, which is more efficient compared to the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive models. Preliminary tests of a pre-production all-wheel-drive Macan 4 Electric have shown a range of 322.5 miles before reaching a 1% charge level, suggesting that the rear-wheel-drive model could exceed this.
The Macan Electric is a significant step for Porsche and the broader Volkswagen Group, marking the brand’s entry into the popular crossover segment with its first electric model. It also introduces the Volkswagen Group’s new Premium Platform Electric, the same technology used in the Audi Q6 E-Tron.
With range figures of around 300 miles or more, the Macan Electric is set to make a notable impact in the electric vehicle market, although its premium pricing may limit its accessibility to a select audience. The real-world performance of the Macan Electric will be closely watched as it begins to hit the roads.
