SilverYachts has proudly announced the successful delivery of its inaugural SpaceCat 36-metre model, named “Reduce.” Designed by the esteemed Espen Øino, this sub-500 GT catamaran epitomizes a commitment to sustainability and efficiency in yacht design. The vessel’s name reflects the core philosophy of minimizing its environmental impact, achieved through innovative material choices and design strategies.
The collaboration between shipyard Founder Guido Krass and designer Espen Øino has elevated the concept of modern sustainable yachting. By adapting the slender monohull design, which characterized the first generation of SilverYachts, to a more efficient catamaran form, they have created a yacht that balances transverse stability with luxury, effectively serving as a floating summer residence.
At 36 metres in length and with a 13-metre beam, Reduce offers a space akin to a luxury apartment rather than a traditional yacht. The design prioritizes spaciousness, with the main deck dedicated to guest and owner areas, while the 400 square metres of interior space and over 480 square metres of exterior deck space ensure ample room for both relaxation and entertainment.
The catamaran’s large beam provides the sensation of a much larger vessel, incorporating the large windows, high ceilings, and generous staircases typical of larger yachts. This design also minimizes hull resistance, allowing for reduced propulsion power and more efficient engine room usage. The Volvo Penta IPS pods, known for their high propulsive efficiency, enable Reduce to achieve a top speed of 24 knots and a cruising speed of 18 knots. At 12 knots, using only two of the four engines, the yacht consumes a modest 130 litres of fuel per hour, offering a range of 3,300 nautical miles with a 10 percent reserve.
Additionally, the Volvo Penta engines are Tier III compliant, minimizing emissions, and are equipped with an integrated joystick system for easy maneuverability. The yacht’s smooth and comfortable ride is further enhanced by Volvo Humphree interceptors with active trim control.
Reduce represents SilverYachts’ effort to address rising ownership costs and complexities in the yachting industry, aiming to meet the demands of both new and experienced yacht owners. The vessel is currently on display in Hong Kong until the end of October 2024, after which it will be showcased at Miami South Beach Marina starting December 1, 2024. This offers prospective buyers a unique opportunity to experience the luxury and innovation of this next-generation yacht firsthand.
