Bentley has unveiled a teaser photo of the upcoming Flying Spur, set to be officially revealed on Tuesday, September 10. This announcement follows Bentley’s earlier confirmation that the new Flying Spur will feature a 771-horsepower plug-in hybrid V-8 powertrain.
The Flying Spur will now sport a facelifted design and the advanced plug-in hybrid system previously introduced in the refreshed Continental GT. This “Ultra Performance Hybrid” powertrain combines a 584-horsepower twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine with a 187-hp electric motor, integrated between the engine and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The combined output reaches 771 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque.
The electric motor is powered by a 25.9-kWh battery, providing an estimated 51 miles of EV-only range according to the European WLTP test cycle, though it is likely closer to 40 miles based on EPA standards. In the Continental GT, the electric motor enables speeds up to 87 mph on electric power alone, though this may vary for the Flying Spur.
The powertrain’s specifications may seem familiar, as it is also used in the Lamborghini Urus SE and the newly announced Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, albeit with slightly different configurations.
Currently, details about the facelifted Flying Spur are limited to the powertrain and a single teaser image highlighting a subtly updated front end. Bentley has promised to release additional information closer to the official unveiling.
