In July, the superyacht M2, a 130.2-meter vessel originally constructed by Romanian shipyard Severnav in 2002, was seen anchored in Porto Rotondo, Sardinia, Italy. As one of the largest yachts ever built by Severnav, M2 has a rich history, having formerly operated as Aranui III—a dual passenger and cargo ship servicing routes between Tahiti and the Marquesas Islands until her decommissioning in 2015.
In 2017, the vessel underwent a significant transformation at the Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore, where it was converted into a yacht support vessel. The conversion included the addition of four large storage garages, boosting the ship’s internal volume to over 6,500 cubic meters, nearly the size of two Olympic swimming pools. M2 now stands as a testament to the successful adaptation of a utilitarian vessel into a luxurious support yacht.
