The six-day India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Premiere 2024, organized by the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), concluded on a high note, generating over $12 billion in business for exhibitors, according to GJEPC Chairman Vipul Shah. The event was held in Mumbai from August 8 to 13.
This year’s exhibition featured over 3,600 stalls and 2,100 exhibitors from across India, drawing more than 50,000 buyers. The show also attracted 15 international delegations from countries including Cambodia, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, the UK, and Uzbekistan.
Running alongside IIJS Premiere was the IGJME Premiere, a significant machinery and allied expo held from August 9 to 13. The event showcased the latest advancements in machinery and technology, with over 220 companies and 320 stalls participating.
Shah hailed the event as a major success, emphasizing its impact on global trade: “IIJS Premiere 2024 was a tremendous success, generating over $12 billion in business for our exhibitors. With 2,000 international buyers and 15 international delegations, IIJS Premiere 2024 played a crucial role in boosting exports and expanding our global footprint.”
The show saw significant participation from Gujarat, with over 250 exhibitors from Surat and more than 6,000 registered buyers from the state. Vijay Mangukiya, Chairman of Gujarat GJEPC, highlighted the exhibition’s importance for the struggling diamond industry: “With the diamond industry presently fighting for survival, this exhibition will definitely benefit the recession-hit sector.”
