The 2025 Spring/Summer Seoul Fashion Week is set to kick off on September 3, running for five days across key fashion districts in the city, including the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP). Organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the annual event will showcase next year’s spring and summer collections, aiming to elevate Korean fashion (K-fashion) on the global stage.
Since its inception in 2000, Seoul Fashion Week has sought to strengthen the international presence of Korean designers and fashion brands by facilitating connections with global buyers. This year, the event will bring together 95 Korean designer brands with 120 international buyers, focusing on expanding business opportunities and fostering robust exchanges.
Last year’s 2024 Fall/Winter Seoul Fashion Week saw participation from 84 brands and 101 global buyers, resulting in approximately $5.24 million in orders. This year, renowned brands such as Youser, Julycolumn, Ulkin, Eenk, Bonbom, Amomento, and Marhenj will be featured, targeting new markets and aiming to secure lucrative contracts.
Prominent international buyers, including France’s Prendang clothing store, Japan’s Daimaru department store, and Singapore’s Club 21, are expected to attend, reflecting high anticipation for the event. “With the recent surge in K-fashion’s popularity in Japan, we’re eager to connect with brands looking to enter the Japanese market,” said Oikawa Shin of Daimaru department store.
Seoul Fashion Week will also host a tradeshow at DDP, where 62 brands will engage in one-on-one business consultations at pop-up booths. Each brand is scheduled for around 15 buyer consultations. The showroom tour program, expanded this year to include Hannam alongside Seongsu and Cheongdam, will allow buyers to visit designer showrooms for in-depth consultations. A total of 28 brands will participate, with 18 operational showrooms offering approximately six consultation slots each.
A new presentation program for overseas buyers and media will feature designer brands such as Seokwoon Yoon, Eenk, Boncom, Mmam, and Hyosung TNC, with in-depth showcases at DDP and Hannam-dong showrooms.
This year’s Seoul Fashion Week will emphasize sustainable fashion through presentations, exhibitions, and resource circulation projects. Hyosung TNC will present on eco-friendly materials, including fabrics made from recycled fishing nets, while designer brand PartsParts will display an exhibition titled “Zero Waste Design Philosophy and Sustainable Fashion.” Additionally, Jeju Samdasoo, a mineral water brand, will lead a resource circulation project, recycling bottled water used during the event to create new fibers.
“Seoul Fashion Week is not just a platform for showcasing fashion; it’s a vital opportunity to generate global business prospects for Korean designers and brands,” said Choi Pahn-kyu, head of the Creative Industry Planning Bureau at the Seoul Metropolitan Government. “We aim to help international buyers recognize the potential of the K-fashion industry through this event, fostering greater collaboration and achieving tangible results.”
