In honor of the 50th anniversary of the iconic Porsche 911 Turbo, Porsche Design has introduced two exclusive, limited-edition watches that capture the essence and performance of the legendary sports car. These precision-crafted timepieces pay tribute to Porsche’s rich heritage and innovation.
The first model, the Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years, celebrates the debut of the original 911 Turbo from 1974. Limited to 1,974 units, this watch is available solely to owners of the new 911 Turbo 50 Years special edition. Featuring a lightweight titanium case to mirror the car’s focus on weight reduction and performance, the watch’s case back is engraved with its unique limited-edition number, emphasizing its connection to the celebrated sports car. The design echoes the high-performance aesthetics of the 911 Turbo, including a winding rotor inspired by the car’s wheel. A classic black leather strap, made from genuine Porsche vehicle leather and accented with Turbonite yarn, enhances its distinctive character. Priced at $12,553 USD, this timepiece offers a rare opportunity to own a piece of Porsche’s history.
The second release, the Chronograph 1 – 50 Years 911 Turbo Edition, serves as a contemporary homage to the original Chronograph I, designed by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche in 1972. Limited to just 500 pieces, this model is a coveted item for Turbo enthusiasts. Its titanium case, coated with black titanium carbide, reflects the advanced materials used in the 911 Turbo’s evolution. The dial, reminiscent of the first 911 Turbo’s instrument panel, features white hands and indices for clarity, with a red stop-second hand adding a sporty accent. Powered by the Porsche Design caliber WERK 01.240 with a flyback function, the Chronograph 1 ensures precise timing. Priced at $12,000 USD, it is available at Porsche Design Stores and online, appealing to both vintage and modern Porsche aficionados. Both watches also incorporate a nod to Porsche’s signature Fuchs wheels on the case back.
