Two weeks ago, the expedition yacht SuRi docked in Alesund, Norway. The 63.4-meter yacht was originally built by Halter Marine in 1978. Originally an offshore support vessel, the yacht has undergone several transformations during her life. The most significant of these was her conversion to a superyacht in 2007, followed by an extensive refit in 2016.
Formerly known as Fierce Contender, SuRi has exterior design by Joseph Artese Design, interiors by Jeffrey Botwin, and naval architecture by Kirilloff and Associates. The yacht is equipped with a host of luxurious amenities, including a fully equipped gym, Jacuzzi, cinema, spa, and easily accessible helipad.
Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, SuRi has a cruising speed of 11 knots and can reach a top speed of 13 knots. She also has an impressive range of 6,000 nautical miles, making her a versatile and long-distance vessel.
