Kayla Grigoriou has been appointed as Angel’s Envy Whiskey Specialist, coinciding with Bacardi-Martini Australia’s (BMA) plans to introduce the super-premium Kentucky Straight Bourbon nationwide. The brand, acquired by BMA in 2015, had a successful on-premise debut in 2020 and is now set for a broader consumer launch in the coming months.
To fully embrace her new role, Grigoriou is currently exploring Angel’s Envy’s operations at its headquarters and distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. She will also meet with Master Distiller Owen Martin, who is scheduled to visit Australia for the launch later this month.
Bourbon remains the most-consumed spirit in Australia, and Grigoriou’s appointment is a key component of BMA’s strategy to enhance its presence in the super-premium American whiskey sector.
Grigoriou expressed her enthusiasm for the role, stating, “I’m thrilled to continue my journey with the Bacardi-Martini team. Taking on this new role is a dream come true, and I am excited about focusing on and promoting the premium bourbon market in Australia. After visiting the distillery, I am eager to share Angel’s Envy’s unique story and exceptional quality with Australian whiskey enthusiasts.”
Previously, Grigoriou joined BMA as a Brand Ambassador in 2022 after founding her own spirits company, Needle and Pin Spirits. An established thought-leader and spirits competition judge, she has recently worked with Grey Goose and was a finalist for Brand Ambassador of the Year at the 2023 Australian Liquor Industry Awards.
BMA Managing Director Luiz Schmidt commented, “We are excited to welcome Kayla Grigoriou as our Angel’s Envy Whiskey Specialist. Her expertise and dedication to premium spirits are crucial as we advance the super-premium American whiskey segment in Australia. With Australian consumers’ strong preference for bourbon, Kayla’s appointment is strategically significant for our expansion plans. We are confident that under her leadership, Angel’s Envy will become a major growth driver and a favorite among Australian whiskey enthusiasts.”
