South African Fashion Week (SAFW) is set to move from the Mall of Africa to its new venue at Melrose Arch in Johannesburg this September.
Since 2020, SAFW has been hosted at the Mall of Africa. The transition to Melrose Arch follows a successful showcase of the SS24 collections, which featured new elements like a media lounge. Organizers are committed to incorporating even more innovative formats, offering runway shows in a unique, never-before-used space at Melrose Arch, alongside various lifestyle and brand activations throughout the precinct.
“SA Fashion Week’s vision over the past 27 years has been to explore sustainable business models that can leverage fashion’s economic and social influence for the benefit of all stakeholders involved,” said SAFW Director Lucilla Booyzen. “We are delighted to partner with one of the city’s most exciting lifestyle precincts, in one of its most historical areas, to develop yet another mutually beneficial venture.”
With the move to Melrose Arch, attendees can look forward to an immersive fashion experience, from runway shows to brand activations. “Everything from the sense of community to the cobbled pavements connecting the open-air environment from one node to the next makes this playground for the cosmopolitan the perfect host for an event focused on the future of sustainable fashion,” said Melrose Arch’s Marketing Manager, Khanyi Moyo.
“The double-volume basement parking, where the shows will take place, is safe and spacious enough to build the iconic runway and to create an edgy and eclectic environment for the SA Fashion Week experience without any disruptions to the precinct’s daily operations.”
While the dates for the SA Fashion Week AW25 collections are yet to be confirmed, the event is scheduled to occur in September.
