Bentley has unveiled a teaser for the latest version of its Flying Spur sedan, set to feature the company’s innovative “Ultra Performance Hybrid” powertrain. This announcement comes on the heels of Bentley marking the end of production for its iconic W12 engine.
The new hybrid system, which is the same as that in the recently launched Continental GT Speed showcased at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, combines a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with a compact yet powerful electric motor. This setup enables the powertrain to deliver an impressive 771 horsepower (hp) and 1,000 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.
Notably, the Flying Spur with this hybrid engine promises reduced carbon dioxide emissions and an all-electric range of at least 72 kilometers. This makes it the most powerful four-door vehicle in Bentley’s 105-year history.
Visually, the teaser image reveals that the new Flying Spur retains many design elements from the current model, such as the boxy mesh grille and crystal-style quad headlamps. However, the trim pieces on the lower front bumper have been redesigned to feature more elegant lines and curves.
Bentley has not yet announced an exact release date for the new Flying Spur, but has indicated that more details will be shared in due course.
In the Philippines, the authorized Bentley distributor PGA Cars offers three versions of the Flying Spur: a six-cylinder hybrid, a V8 variant, and the W12-powered trim. Among these, the W12 is the most powerful, boasting up to 626 hp and 900 Nm of torque.
