Bentley Motors has marked a significant milestone with the topping-out ceremony of its new design centre in Crewe. This event signals the completion of the structural phase of the building’s construction, with Bentley Chairman and CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser, along with board members Andreas Lehe and Matthias Rabe, in attendance.
The new design centre, scheduled for completion next year, will replace Bentley’s historic ‘Front of House’ building, which has been a fixture since 1939. The upgraded facility will double the size of the previous design centre and will accommodate approximately 50 designers focused on exterior, interior, and colour and trim design.
Matthias Rabe emphasized the importance of the new centre, stating, “We are currently in the midst of a design revolution that will help define a new chapter for Bentley design, as part of our Beyond100 transformational journey. Creating an innovative and creative environment for our designers is crucial for advancing the development of future BEV models and extraordinary products. This is central to our goal of becoming the world’s leading sustainable luxury mobility company.”
As part of its £2.5 billion investment program, Bentley is undertaking a comprehensive reinvention of its product range to support a fully electrified future. The expansion of the design centre is a key component of this initiative, which also includes significant upgrades to the Pyms Lane factory in Crewe.
Andreas Lehe added, “Modernizing our site not only demonstrates a strong commitment to a long-term future in Crewe but also underscores our ambition to lead in digital, innovative, and highly flexible luxury car development and manufacturing through continuous investment in state-of-the-art facilities.”
