To mark the 75th anniversary of the Monaco Red Cross, a rare Hermès Kelly bag was auctioned publicly, fetching an impressive €75,000. Offered by the esteemed Maison Hermès, this exceptional piece highlights the intersection of luxury and charity.
The Kelly bag, measuring 32 cm, is crafted from ‘Rouge Piment’ box calfskin and features silver palladium hardware. Often dubbed the “king of leathers,” this bag belongs to the “Hermès heritage” collection, renowned for its high-quality craftsmanship since the 1920s. The term “Box” refers to the unique English tanning technique used. The bag’s red hue symbolizes the Red Cross’s universal emblem.
The auction winner received an exclusive invitation, along with a guest, to the official table at the prestigious Red Cross Gala held on Friday, July 19, 2024. The highlight of the evening was the personal presentation of the Kelly bag on stage at Sporting de Monaco by Prince Albert II.
The 75th Monaco Red Cross Gala, a distinguished event in the Principality of Monaco, was graced by the presence of Prince Albert, Princess Charlene, and Camille Gottlieb. Held in the opulent Salle des Etoiles, the gala is known for its blend of elegance and philanthropy.
This year’s charity evening, hosted by TV presenter Tatiana Silva and athlete Thaïg Khris, gathered Red Cross members and donors for a lavish dinner, culminating in a concert by the renowned band Jamiroquai. Founded in 1992 by Jay Kay, Jamiroquai is celebrated for pioneering the “future funk” genre and has achieved global acclaim, selling over 26 million albums and holding the Guinness World Record for the best-selling funk album.
