Papa Salt Gin, the Australian coastal gin brand founded by Margot Robbie, her husband Tom Ackerley, and friends Josey McNamara, Regan Riskas, and Charlie Maas, is set to expand its product line with the launch of a ready-to-drink (RTD) Paloma. The new offering is scheduled to hit shelves in time for the summer season.
The RTD will feature a blend of Papa Salt Gin and CAPI Grapefruit Soda, aiming to deliver a high-quality product that reflects the brand’s essence. Charlie Maas, CEO of Papa Salt, explained the motivation behind the new release, emphasizing the need to adapt to changing consumer habits. “We created Papa Salt with the idea of enjoying gin in the sun with friends. But consumers are now more mobile than ever, and we needed to adjust our approach,” Maas told The Shout.
He continued, “As a brand, adaptation is key. Introducing a more portable and shareable package, rather than a traditional large bottle, was essential. Our main concern was maintaining the quality of the product. We decided that partnering with a respected mixer brand like CAPI would help us achieve that. Their Grapefruit Soda is a favorite of ours, leading us to the decision of creating a Paloma RTD.”
The Papa Salt Paloma RTD will be presented in 250ml cans, with a five percent ABV. Each can will contain one standard drink and less than 100 calories. Maas highlighted the extensive effort put into both the product and its packaging design. “We chose the size and strength that provided the best taste. This RTD mirrors our preferences and reflects the Papa Salt brand,” he said.
Although the translucent effect of the bottle cannot be replicated in a can, the design will ensure that the RTD remains recognizable as part of the Papa Salt line. “We worked diligently to ensure that the can design aligns with the bottle’s aesthetic, maintaining the brand’s visual identity,” Maas added.
The Papa Salt Paloma RTD is expected to be available across Australia starting in October, with specific retailers and pricing details to be confirmed.
