This week, the 77.4-metre explorer yacht Legend was seen docked in Bergen, Norway. Originally constructed by the Dutch shipyard IHC Verschure in 1974 as an icebreaking tug, this vessel, formerly known as Giant I, has undergone an extraordinary transformation. In 2003, Legend emerged as the world’s first Class 1 icebreaker superyacht. The rebuild was completed by Icon Yachts in 2016, featuring a luxurious interior designed by John Misiag and Shelley McNaughton, along with elegant exterior lines crafted by Diana Yacht Design.
The extensive modifications to convert Legend into an ice-breaking passenger yacht were substantial. The stern was extended by 3.6 meters, the superstructure was completely redesigned, and the mast was entirely reconstructed.
Luxurious Accommodations and Features
Inside, Legend can accommodate up to 22 guests in 11 city-themed staterooms. Among the standout features on board are:
- A Balinese-style spa with a dedicated spa specialist
- A 16-person heated Jacuzzi with a cascading waterfall on the main deck
- A 14-seat cinema room
Equipped for Adventure
Legend is built for the ultimate expedition experience. The 2,407 GT yacht is equipped with an impressive array of tenders and toys, supporting submersibles, heli-operations, and diving expeditions.
