French fashion brand Coperni, known for its viral moments like Bella Hadid’s spray-on dress, is set to make headlines once more with a historic venue choice for Paris Fashion Week. Founders Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant have announced plans to stage their show on October 1 at Disneyland Paris, marking the first time the theme park will host an event during the prestigious fashion week.
In a bold and innovative move, the duo, celebrated for their love of technology and experimental show formats, are creating an event with broad crossover appeal. “It’s a childhood dream come true,” Vaillant expressed. “We grew up in the south of France, and when you’re little, your first visit to Paris is not to see the Eiffel Tower, it’s to go to Disneyland.”
The designers have been diligently shuttling between their studio and the theme park to fine-tune what they promise will be a “full experience.” The invitation-only show is scheduled to take place around 10 p.m. in Fantasyland, promising an unforgettable evening.
“It’s going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. They’ve never done it before, so this is quite a gamble for them,” Vaillant said, highlighting the significance of Disneyland Paris hosting a fashion show for the first time.
Disneyland Paris, Europe’s most-visited theme park resort, attracted a record 9.93 million visitors in 2022. The park is undergoing a significant overhaul as part of a 2 billion-euro investment, including the opening of its Marvel Avengers Campus and the upcoming transformation of Walt Disney Studios Park into Disney Adventure World.
Coperni’s show will draw inspiration from Disney’s princesses, infusing the theme with their signature contemporary and innovative style. “Of course, we’ll be giving it the Coperni touch,” Vaillant said. “We always like to evolve the style of the Coperni woman.”
Details of the show remain closely guarded, but the event promises to be glamorous. The evening will kick off with a cocktail at the newly renovated, royalty-themed Disneyland Hotel. “The backstage area will be at Cinderella’s Inn — it’s so funny,” Vaillant remarked. The afterparty will be held in Discoveryland, home to the Space Mountain ride.
Coperni has a history of adding unexpected dimensions to their runway displays, including a drive-in fashion show during the coronavirus pandemic and a collection unveiling atop the Tour Montparnasse skyscraper. Meyer noted that the brand shares a “passion for entertainment” with Disney, praising Walt Disney as a visionary akin to Steve Jobs.
The designers hope the show will resonate with a wide audience. “Fashion can be a little snobbish,” Vaillant said. “We always like to bring it to a bigger stage.” This collaboration with Disneyland Paris is poised to do just that, blending fashion, technology, and the magic of Disney in a groundbreaking event.
