The Australian wine and grape sectors have jointly unveiled the One Grape & Wine Sector Plan, marking a collaborative effort to realign with the ambitious objectives set forth in Vision 2050.
Vision 2050, a strategic initiative by Australian Grape & Wine and Wine Australia, originally outlined a sustainable and profitable future for the country’s grape and wine industries over the next three decades. However, recent challenges such as COVID-19 recovery, bushfires, drought, rising costs, reduced returns, oversupply, and trade barriers have necessitated a recalibration.
Scheduled to launch on August 2nd, the One Grape & Wine Sector Plan aims to steer the sector back on course, providing a comprehensive strategy to achieve Vision 2050’s goals despite recent setbacks.
Consultations with stakeholders across the grape and wine sector—including growers, winemakers, exporters, industry associations, researchers, and suppliers—have shaped the plan. This inclusive approach ensures that the strategy addresses diverse challenges while aligning with the sector’s collective aspirations.
In a joint statement, Australian Grape & Wine and Wine Australia expressed gratitude for the extensive feedback received during the plan’s development. They acknowledged the constructive criticism and emphasized the plan’s adaptation to reflect sector-wide priorities and the commitment to shaping a dynamic future.
Key themes emerging from sector feedback include the need for a clear vision and actionable steps for recovery, enhanced leadership from industry bodies, transparency in implementation and progress reporting, and guidance for businesses to navigate the path forward.
The plan’s official launch event will take place in Adelaide on August 2nd, providing an update on the current state of the Australian wine sector. Registration for the event is open to the public, underscoring the sector’s transparency and engagement in shaping its future trajectory.
