To commemorate its 40th anniversary, Porsche Ibérica has launched the exclusive Cuarenta Edition, featuring unique exterior and interior designs, and logos inspired by Iberian history and culture. The creation of this special 911 edition involved collaboration between Porsche Ibérica experts, Style Porsche, and the Sonderwunsch Team in Zuffenhausen.
In 1984, Porsche transitioned from being represented in Spain by an importer to becoming a subsidiary, initially named Porsche España, S.A. This significant milestone not only demonstrates the brand’s strong connection with Iberian enthusiasts but also marks a new chapter in Porsche’s history. The Cuarenta Edition honors the four decades and the loyal customers who have made this journey possible. Each car in this limited edition is a meticulously crafted work of art, reflecting the exclusivity and luxury synonymous with contemporary Porsche vehicles.
“The arrival of Porsche as a subsidiary in Spain and Portugal, taking over from the importer at the time, was a turning point for the brand,” said Tomás Villén, Managing Director of Porsche Ibérica. “We are very proud of the work we have done in these forty years, and what better way to celebrate than with an exclusive model of the company’s icon, the 911, for our market. At Porsche Ibérica, we will keep one unit, which we will use and preserve as a jewel to showcase our heritage.”
Inspired by Iberian Culture and Tradition
The concept behind the Cuarenta Edition was to create a 911 that a Spanish or Portuguese customer might have ordered 40 years ago, yet remains fashionable and desirable today. Alexander Fabig, Vice President of Individualisation & Classic at Porsche, emphasized the creative collaboration with Spanish and Portuguese colleagues, which brought insights into Iberian culture and anecdotes from Porsche Ibérica’s founding period in the 1980s.
Besides various anniversary activities planned throughout the year, Porsche Ibérica created a special version of the iconic 911 to evoke the 1980s founding phase. Utilizing the Sonderwunsch program, Porsche Ibérica collaborated with specialists to incorporate individual design elements beyond the existing 911 catalogue.
A team traveled to Porsche’s headquarters in Zuffenhausen to finalize the details of this market edition. The base version chosen was the new Carrera GTS Coupé, the first new model marketed by the Spanish subsidiary 40 years ago. This version combines timeless sporty style and technical sophistication with unique Sonderwunsch touches to create a tailor-made concept for Spanish and Portuguese customers.
Technical Specifications and Features
In this second phase of the 911 series, the Carrera GTS version is equipped with the new T-Hybrid drive system. This system combines an electric motor integrated into the turbocharger, a lightweight high-voltage battery, and an electric motor coupled to the eight-speed PDK gearbox. The six-cylinder boxer now has a displacement of 3.6 liters. With a system output of 398 kW (541 PS), it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 312 km/h (194 mph). Standard equipment includes rear-wheel steering and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with 10 millimeters lower ground clearance.
The Porsche Driver Experience control concept focuses on the driver’s axis for intuitive and faster operation. Key controls are positioned directly on or around the steering wheel. For the first time in a 911, there is a start button to the left of the steering wheel, and the instrument panel is fully digital.
Exterior Design
For the Cuarenta Edition, a bespoke exterior color, Quercusverde, was created, reminiscent of the unique shade of holm oak leaves characteristic of Spain and Portugal’s landscapes. The anniversary logo, featuring a Quercus tree, is hand-painted on the car’s rear lid grille. Other identifying elements include the “nueveonce/Cuarenta” (“911 40”) logo on the B-pillar in Cremewhite, the Porsche and 911 logo at the rear in Silver, side window trims in Aluminum, fender flares in Black Satin stone guard film, and Red rear lights and strip.
The stone guard film, a functional and stylistic nod to 1980s 911s, is designed to mimic the protective film used on older models. The wheels are RS Spyder Design in Black Satin with a Brilliant Silver rim and Black Satin wheel center caps featuring a monochrome Porsche crest, paying homage to the 1980s 911 wheel color combination.
Interior Concept
The interior features a two-tone Truffle Brown and Cohiba Brown leather combination. The darker shade is applied to the instrument panel and lower surfaces, while the lighter shade is used for the trim surfaces. The brown tones reflect the artisanal work of the guarnicioneros (saddlery craftsmen) from the Iberian Peninsula.
A standout feature is the Tartan textile on the seat center inlays, featuring a specially developed color scheme: Truffle Brown, Cohiba Brown, Crayon, and a hint of Quercusverde in a checkered pattern. The dashboard trim and upper door panel have elegant cross-stitching in Crayon and Truffle Brown, all hand-sewn by experts. Adaptive Sports seats Plus (18-way) and rear seats are upholstered in Cohiba Brown leather with Tartan textile seat centers, accented with Crayon piping. The front seats also feature Cuarenta embossing on the headrests.
The passenger trim in Truffle Brown leather showcases a high-quality Cuarenta embossing, emphasizing the individualised interior. The center console’s storage lid is embossed with “Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur” lettering. Upon entering the vehicle, customers see the door sill guards in Aluminum Darksilver with illuminated Cuarenta lettering in Cremewhite. The LED door courtesy lights project the special Quercus tree logo onto the ground.
The driver’s key, painted in Quercusverde with Cuarenta lettering in Silver, is presented in a two-tone Truffle Brown and Cohiba Brown leather key pouch matching the interior. The key pouch also features an embossing of the Quercus tree logo. Customers also receive a custom-made indoor car cover for the Cuarenta Edition in Quercusverde, featuring the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur logo on the front, Cuarenta Edition lettering on the sides in Cremewhite, and a badge on the rear.
