Co-founders of The Maybe Group, Vince Lomardo and Stefano Catino, have announced the termination of their partnership with Jon Adgemis’ Public Hospitality.
This decision emerges amid a challenging period for Public, following the end of its collaboration with the Love Tilly Group last year and the cessation of operating contracts for Alpha restaurant and Beta Events.
In response to financial speculations, Public announced a restructuring last month. This week, the Rose, Shamrock, and Thistle Hotel, home to The Maybe Group’s acclaimed El Primo Sanchez bar, was listed for sale.
In a statement, Lombardo and Catino assured that the ownership and operation of Maybe Sammy and Maybe Frank would remain with The Maybe Group. El Primo Sanchez will transition from Public to The Maybe Group through a license agreement.
“Stef and I believe we can best serve our venues by bringing them back under The Maybe Group’s wing, and Jon has supported us in this decision,” Lombardo stated.
No Changes at Venues
Catino confirmed that the conclusion of the partnership will not disrupt operations at the three venues.
“Although Maybe Sammy and Maybe Frank have been under the Public umbrella for the last year or so, we have continued to operate them as our own. There will be no change to the guest experience in those venues or El Primo Sanchez as a result of this transition,” Catino said.
Starting Friday, July 12, 2024, The Maybe Group will operate all three venues. Additionally, The Maybe Group has agreed to review new venue collaborations with Public on a case-by-case basis.
The Maybe Group joined the Public Hospitality portfolio in April last year, aiming to launch more venue concepts and expand the successful Maybe Cocktail Festival to new locations, including Melbourne and Byron Bay.
