BMW Group has reported a notable 34.1% increase in sales of fully-electric vehicles during the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year. The company disclosed delivering 179,557 fully electric vehicles, surpassing traditional competitors and expanding its market share across Europe.
However, amidst this success in electric vehicles, BMW Group faced a varied global sales landscape. Overall group sales saw a marginal decline of 0.1%, with China experiencing the most significant drop at 4.2%. In contrast, the Americas registered growth, particularly in the United States with a 1.7% increase. Europe also saw moderate gains, with a 2.6% rise in sales. Across the BMW brand, sales increased by 2.3% to reach 1,096,486 units in the first half of the year.
Commenting on these results, Jochen Goller, member of the Board of Management of BMW responsible for Customer, Brands, Sales, noted, “Despite a challenging market environment, we achieved sales growth for the BMW brand in the first half of the year.”
BMW Group’s robust performance in electric vehicle sales underscores its strategic advancement in sustainable mobility while navigating fluctuations in global markets.
