Bentley, the German-owned British luxury automaker, has shattered its own records with the all-new 2025 plug-in hybrid Continental GT Speed. Available in both coupe and convertible models, this vehicle boasts remarkable performance and advanced hybrid technology.
The new Continental GT Speed delivers an impressive 575kW and 1000Nm of torque, achieving a 0-100km/h acceleration in just 3.2 seconds and reaching a top speed of 335km/h. Additionally, it offers up to 81km of pure electric range (WLTP-verified) at speeds up to 140km/h.
This power and torque surpass the previous generation’s fastest twin-turbo W12 model by 80kW and 100Nm. The latest model features a smaller twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine paired with an electric motor, a 25.9kWh battery, all-wheel drive, and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Though official fuel consumption figures are pending, Bentley asserts that the hybrid system allows the car to emit just 29g/km of CO2, a 90% reduction from previous models. The car can travel up to 859km on a full tank and fully charged battery.
To manage the increased power, the Continental GT Speed includes standard all-wheel drive, an electronic limited-slip differential, and torque vectoring. It also achieves near-perfect 49:51 front-to-rear weight distribution. The car’s handling is further enhanced by rear-wheel steering, 48-volt active anti-roll bars, and adaptive air suspension with twin-valve dampers.
Braking is handled by substantial 10-piston calipers and 420mm rotors at the front, with four-piston calipers and 380mm discs at the rear, all housed within 22-inch wheels. For high-performance needs, Bentley offers optional carbon-silicon-carbide brakes with larger 440mm composite discs at the front and 410mm rotors at the rear.
Inside, the Bentley maintains its luxurious standards with quilted leather 20-way adjustable seats, a choice of 10-speaker or 18-speaker sound systems, 30-color ambient lighting, and a 12.3-inch rotating display that can show infotainment, analogue dials, or wood veneer. The fully customizable digital instrument cluster now includes hybrid-specific graphics.
The advanced infotainment system features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air updates, and remote operation via a smartphone app for pre-heating or cooling the car and checking fuel and battery status. Additional tech includes an auto park feature and cabin air filtration that activates in tunnels.
Bentley plans to introduce a green traffic light predictor in the US and Europe, along with downloadable music, videos, and games in the near future.
Launching alongside the coupe, the 2025 Bentley Continental GTC convertible features the same hybrid powertrain with a fabric roof that lowers in approximately 19 seconds. Despite the added weight for structural reinforcement, the GTC achieves 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 285km/h.
Both the 2025 Bentley Continental GT and GTC are expected to arrive in European showrooms by the end of September, with an Australian release anticipated in late 2024 or early 2025. Pricing details are yet to be announced.
