Ralph Lauren will inaugurate New York Fashion Week with a runway show in the Hamptons on September 5. In a statement via WWD, Lauren expressed his deep connection to the Hamptons, describing it as a place of natural beauty and inspiration, characterized by its ocean views, green fields, and artistic heritage.
“The Hamptons is more than a place. It’s a natural world of endless blue skies, the ocean, green fields, and white fences, rusticity and elegance with a quality of light that drew artists here decades ago. It has been home, my refuge and always an inspiration,” Lauren remarked.
Ralph Lauren’s presence in the Hamptons dates back to 1992, when the brand opened its first shop in the area, long before it became a popular vacation destination. Over the years, the designer has expanded his footprint, opening a children’s store in East Hampton’s oldest building in 2007 and partnering with the East Hampton Historical Society in 2008 to help preserve the historic Mulford Farm grounds. Currently, Lauren operates three shops in the Hamptons and owns three connected houses in Montauk.
This upcoming show continues Lauren’s tradition of innovative runway presentations, following recent shows staged in settings inspired by his Double RL ranch artist’s loft and his Madison Avenue offices.
