Porsche has issued a recall for certain 2020 to 2025 models of its Taycan all-electric sports car, citing a potential fault in the front brake hose. This marks another instance of recalls for the Taycan, which has encountered multiple issues since its debut in 2019. Despite its global success with over 150,000 units sold since launch, the Taycan has faced recurring recall concerns.
In December last year, over 41,000 Taycan vehicles were recalled due to charging cable issues, followed by another recall in March involving several hundred models over potential battery module short circuits. The current recall affects 31,689 Taycan units manufactured between 2020 and 2025. According to a letter sent by Porsche to the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), the front brake hoses could degrade, leading to brake fluid leakage.
While there have been no reported accidents in the US related to this issue, Porsche is conducting the recall as a precautionary measure. The company emphasizes its commitment to safety and quality through this recall, despite continuing efforts to expand its electric vehicle lineup.
Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by Porsche starting July 3rd. Dealers will replace the front brake hoses with more flexible ones at no cost to the owners. Porsche customer service can be reached at 1-800-767-7243 with the recall number ARB0 for Taycan owners. Additional information is available on the NHTSA website or by calling the NHTSA hotline at 1-888-327-4236, with identification number 24V-455.
Earlier this year, Porsche introduced the 2025 Taycan in February, boasting extended range, faster charging capabilities, and improved acceleration. In March, the company unveiled the Taycan Turbo GT, its fastest production car yet, featuring an impressive 1,092 hp engine and a 0-60 mph sprint time of under 2.1 seconds, positioning it as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model S.
