Audi has announced plans to introduce the Sportback variant of its upcoming Q6 e-tron electric SUV in international markets by the first half of 2025, positioning it as potentially the brand’s electric SUV with the longest driving range.
While details are limited to a shadowy teaser image released during the international press drive of the Q6 e-tron, the Sportback design features a steeply-raked roofline, akin to Audi’s other Sportback models like the Q4 e-tron and Q8 e-tron, as well as the Q3 and Q5 SUVs.
Expected to offer a more aerodynamically efficient profile compared to its standard SUV counterpart, the Q6 Sportback e-tron aims to enhance driving range and efficiency, building on the success of previous Sportback versions.
Set to debut shortly after the Q6 e-tron, the Sportback variant is anticipated to reach Australian markets by late 2025. One of the key questions surrounding its release is whether it will surpass its SUV sibling in driving range.
Audi’s current Q6 e-tron lineup includes variants with different battery capacities and drivetrains, with the Performance model boasting an impressive 641km range under WLTP standards. The Sportback variant is expected to build on this foundation with incremental gains in both range and efficiency, thanks to its sleeker design.
While exact pricing details for the Q6 Sportback e-tron have yet to be disclosed, it is likely to command a premium over the standard Q6 e-tron, following Audi’s established pricing strategy for its Sportback models.
As Audi continues to expand its electric vehicle lineup, the Q6 Sportback e-tron represents a significant step towards offering customers enhanced driving dynamics and extended range capabilities in the luxury electric SUV segment.
