BMW commemorates 25 years since the launch of its iconic X5 Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) with the introduction of the BMW X5 Silver Anniversary Edition. Launched in 1999 as the pioneer in BMW’s SAV lineup, the X5 has amassed over 3 million units sold globally.
The special edition model, based on the X5 xDrive 40i, combines elements from both the Sport and M Sport trims to enhance both off-road capability and performance aesthetics. Exterior highlights include dark finishes on window surrounds, roof rails, fender-mounted air breathers, and an illuminated kidney grille. The aluminum-accented bumpers from the Sport variant and 20-inch M Star-spoke bi-color wheels from the M Sport package underscore its dual-purpose design, complemented by BMW Individual Lime Rock Grey metallic paint and a Silver Anniversary Edition badge.
Inside, the X5 Silver Anniversary Edition offers a choice of Black, Cognac, Coffee, or Silverstone Sensafin leather upholstery on sport seats. Carbon fiber trims on the dashboard and center console, typically reserved for higher-end models, add a touch of exclusivity. The BMW Curved Display featuring BMW Operating System 8.5 and Live Cockpit Professional with BMW Head-Up Display and BMW Maps navigation further enhance the cabin experience, alongside a Silver Anniversary Edition plaque.
Powering the special edition is a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo V6 engine producing 375 PS, equipped with eBoost 48V mild hybrid technology and mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Unique to this edition is the xOffroad Package, offering adjustable ride height, transmission settings, throttle response, and traction control tailored to various terrains such as snow, sand, gravel, and rocks, selectable via the drive control switch.
The X5 Silver Anniversary Edition also features a 2-axle air suspension, mechanical rear differential lock, underbody protection plates, and options for more aggressive all-terrain tires from General in the US market. Standard accessories include a roof rack system, BMW luggage compartment mat, and all-weather floor mats.
Limited to approximately 1,000 units for the North American market, the 2025 BMW X5 Silver Anniversary Edition represents a blend of luxury, performance, and enhanced off-road capability, paying homage to 25 years of BMW’s pioneering SAV.
