Suntegrity Skincare has initiated a voluntary recall of specific lots of its Impeccable Skin Sunscreen Foundation following the discovery of a higher-than-acceptable microbiological mold count in some tubes.
The recall, announced by the FDA on June 12, was prompted by findings that certain batches of the product were contaminated with aspergillus sydowii. Despite this contamination, no adverse events related to the affected products have been reported as of the latest update.
According to a report from USA Today, the FDA indicated that the mold contamination was detected during a recent post-release test. This revelation has prompted the company to take proactive measures to ensure consumer safety and compliance with regulatory standards.
Suntegrity Skincare has encouraged consumers who have purchased the affected lots of Impeccable Skin Sunscreen Foundation to discontinue use and return the product for a refund or replacement.
