Following the comprehensive mid-cycle update of the Porsche Taycan, Audi has unveiled the 2025 E-Tron GT with significant enhancements in power, charging speed, and range. This updated lineup includes three distinct models: the S E-Tron GT, RS E-Tron GT, and the flagship RS E-Tron GT Performance.
Audi’s Most Powerful Production Car
The RS E-Tron GT Performance, now Audi’s most powerful production vehicle, boasts an impressive 912 horsepower. While it falls short of the 1,019-hp Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, it remains Audi’s quickest model, accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds—only two-tenths of a second slower than the Taycan.
Performance Across the Range
The RS E-Tron GT delivers 845 hp, achieving 0 to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds, while the base S E-Tron GT offers 671 hp with a 3.4-second sprint. Both RS models have a top speed of 155 mph, whereas the base model reaches 152 mph. All versions feature a dual-motor setup for all-wheel drive, with no plans for a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive variant.
Improved Battery and Charging
The updated E-Tron GT benefits from a revamped battery pack, increasing usable energy capacity from 84 kWh to 97 kWh and reducing weight by 20 pounds. Despite this, the battery still weighs 1,378 pounds. Charging capabilities have also been enhanced, with a new maximum power of 320 kW, up from 270 kW. Under ideal conditions, the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes, and a 10-minute charge can provide 174 miles of range.
Enhanced Efficiency and Range
Efficiency improvements extend beyond the battery. The rear electric motor is now 22 pounds lighter. The base S E-Tron GT, optimized for efficiency, offers a maximum range of 378 miles according to the WLTP cycle, though the EPA estimate will likely be lower.
Advanced Suspension and Design
All models, including the entry-level variant, feature a newly developed two-chamber, two-valve air suspension that can lower the car by up to 3 inches for enhanced comfort. The RS E-Tron GT Performance model includes a dedicated performance mode tailored for track use.
Design and Heritage
While the E-Tron GT maintains its futuristic aesthetic, it incorporates elements of Audi’s heritage. The 21-inch forged wheels are reminiscent of the 1991 Audi Avus Quattro concept, and the digital instrument cluster in the RS E-Tron GT Performance features a white theme inspired by the 1994 RS2 Avant.
Pricing and Availability
Audi has announced European pricing, with the 2025 S E-Tron GT starting at €126,000 ($135,200), the RS E-Tron GT at €147,500 ($158,200), and the RS E-Tron GT Performance at €160,500 ($172,200). US pricing is yet to be released.
The 2025 Audi E-Tron GT range, with its enhanced performance, advanced technology, and nods to Audi’s storied past, sets a new benchmark for electric luxury sedans.
