Lush UAE has announced a pioneering collaboration with The Waste Lab aimed at revolutionizing sustainable practices in the cosmetics industry across the Middle East. The partnership focuses on managing compostable waste generated by Lush’s manufacturing plant in Dubai, with the goal of setting a new standard in environmental stewardship.
Located in Jebel Ali, Lush’s manufacturing hub produces a range of ethical cosmetics using fresh fruit, vegetables, and herbs. The Waste Lab, known for its expertise in composting solutions, will oversee the composting of all food and compostable scraps from the facility.
Anita Baker, Managing Director of Lush MENA, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “We were ecstatic to find a partner like The Waste Lab, a company that aligns with our vision for a circular economy. Turning what is essentially waste destined for landfill into a valuable resource to support the growth of plants and food in the local community is crucial. Sustainability is not just a goal but a commitment to regenerative practices, circular economy principles, and permaculture. Together, we aim to leave the world lusher than we found it.”
Through this collaboration, Lush UAE and The Waste Lab aim to demonstrate how proactive waste management can lead to positive environmental impacts and inspire similar initiatives in the region’s cosmetics industry.
