According to reports by Poslovni Dnevnik, the A220-300 is not only technologically advanced but also significantly quieter, with a noise reduction of up to 50 percent compared to older models. It is also more fuel-efficient, consuming up to 25 percent less fuel, thereby reflecting Croatia Airlines’ commitment to environmental sustainability.
Večernji list confirmed that the aircraft is currently undergoing final production stages, with delivery anticipated in July. Commercial operations will commence immediately following regulatory procedures, starting with flights to Frankfurt. The inaugural aircraft, registered as 9A-CAE and named “Zagreb,” symbolizes the airline’s pride in its Croatian roots.
The A220-300 boasts a spacious configuration with 148 seats, typically arranged in a 2+3 layout with ample aisle space. Additionally, Croatia Airlines will also receive a smaller A220-100 model featuring 127 seats. Both aircraft will be equipped with cutting-edge Panasonic Avionics systems, including Ku-band antennas for high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity. Passengers will enjoy amenities such as mobile device holders, USB-A, and USB-C sockets at every seat, facilitating seamless connectivity throughout their journey.
This milestone marks the beginning of Croatia Airlines’ fleet modernization initiative, slated to replace and unify its aging Airbus A319 and A320 models over the next three years. The introduction of 15 new aircraft underscores the airline’s dedication to providing enhanced comfort, efficiency, and connectivity for its passengers.
