Mercedes-Benz Korea has honored Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, the renowned League of Legends player, with a unique, handcrafted vehicle to celebrate his influence in the global gaming community. This exclusive gesture was announced on Friday.
Mathias Vaitl, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea, presented the one-of-a-kind Mercedes-AMG SL 63 to Lee on Thursday during the Hall of Legends 2024 Media Day at The Shilla Seoul hotel. This event marked Lee’s historic induction as the first member of the Hall of Legends, a prestigious recognition established by Riot Games earlier this year. Riot Games had previously revealed Lee’s induction last month.
Since 2020, Mercedes-Benz has been a key sponsor of all global League of Legends Esports events.
The bespoke vehicle for Lee, a member of the T1 esports team since 2013, was meticulously crafted by MANUFAKTUR, Mercedes-Benz’s exclusive customization program. This program offers clients tailored options including unique paints and interiors. Lee’s new roadster boasts his signature on the headrest and “Hall of Legends” lettering on the floor mats.
“Our enduring partnership with Riot Games allows us to create extraordinary experiences for the esports community,” stated Bettina Fetzer, vice president of communications & marketing at Mercedes-Benz AG. “The Mercedes-AMG SL 63 Roadster, personalized to honor Faker, exemplifies top performance and uniqueness, mirroring Faker’s exceptional style of play.”
To further commemorate Lee’s induction, Mercedes-Benz also presented him with a bespoke art piece crafted in collaboration with a renowned design studio. This artwork depicts Faker in his hometown of Seoul beside his customized vehicle, rendered in a style synonymous with League of Legends branding.
“We are proud to partner with Mercedes-Benz for the Hall of Legends,” said Chris Greeley, global head of strategy for League of Legends Esports. “A customized, handcrafted car is a fitting tribute to Faker for his Hall of Legends induction, showcasing Mercedes-Benz’s deep appreciation for the League of Legends community.”
In addition to the car presentation, Mercedes-Benz plans to release an official “Winner Film” to commemorate Faker’s induction into the Hall of Legends.
Mercedes-Benz’s partnership with Riot Games extends to sponsoring the League of Legends World Championship and Mid-Season Invitational, further solidifying their connection with the esports community through the Hall of Legends.
