Renowned automotive innovator Lanzante is gearing up to reveal its latest masterpiece, the TAG Championship, during this year’s prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed. This exclusive model is a testament to motorsport heritage, paying homage to McLaren’s consecutive Formula 1 triumphs in the 1980s.
Lanzante, lauded for its adept reinterpretations of automotive classics such as the 930-generation Porsche 911 and the McLaren P1, continues its legacy with the TAG Championship. Limited to a mere trio of units, this addition to their portfolio promises to be a sought-after gem among collectors.
Each of the three TAG Championship models will be equipped with Porsche-crafted vintage TAG motors, and they will be christened in tribute to the drivers and years of McLaren’s championship conquests, drawing design inspiration from the iconic cars that clinched victory during those historic seasons. Noteworthy is the evolution from the acclaimed TAG Turbo, renowned for its groundbreaking integration of a V6 Formula 1 engine into the chassis of the 930 Porsche 911.
A standout feature of the TAG Championship is its remarkable weight reduction, shedding nearly 950 pounds in comparison to its Porsche donor vehicle. The race-proven 1.5L twin-turbocharged TAG V6 engines, meticulously reengineered and constructed by Cosworth, bear the McLaren seal of approval, ensuring unparalleled performance and authenticity. Performance metrics impress, with a rev limit of 10,250 rpm, 625 horsepower, and a blistering top speed of 200 mph.
Enthusiasts attending the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed, scheduled from July 11 to 14, will have the privilege to witness firsthand the allure of the Lanzante TAG Championship, undoubtedly a spectacle that will draw a crowd.
